Electronic Distributor Conversion Kit

Electronic Distributor Conversion Kit

Ultra Spark

Electronic ignition for classic and vintage distributors

Ultra spark ignition is the most cost effective ignition system available.

This easy to fit system can transform any classic into a reliable everyday mode of transport.

Easy to fit often only taking 5 minutes, no holes to drill, no complicated wiring, and best of all nothing bolted to the outside of the distributor.

These smaller than a match box units fit inside the distributor in the same place as the points, just 2 wires come out from the distributor to the ignition coil.

The system also works with 6V and 12V so great for that old vintage car tractor or boat.

We can make a kit for any type of distributor, we have a full service and repair service, we have over the years converted Boats, fire engines, tractors, fork lifts, and just about every car make you can think of from AC to Zastava (yes that lovely little car from Yugoslavia).

Kits range from only £23, all from stock; we can fit these at our work shop in Basildon Essex just bring or send you distributor to;

The Ultra Sparks electronic conversion kit replaces the existing points and condensor

with a NEW reliable electronic module. The Ultra spark electronic ignition module has

been developed to work with the standard ignition coil and provides service free and

accurate ignition timing. The kit can be easily fitted to standard points type 45D4

distributors without having to fit a new electronic ignition coil.

We'd recommend fitting a new coil at the same time you can use our standard Ultra Spark coil PC9027 or Lucas sports coil DLB105

With the ignition switched OFF :-

Remove the distributor cap and put aside.

Remove the rotor arm.

Remove the contact points and condensor carefully, retaining the fixing screws

and withdraw the wires through the distributor housing and discard.

Fit the new ignition module to the base plate using the old contact fixing screws

and the grease provided (note the central raised locating lug on the base plate)

and tighten the screws firmly for good heat distribution.

Pass the wires through the hole in the distributor body and check there is

sufficient slack in the wires inside the distributor body to leave the base plate free

to rotate, inserting the black rubber plug to seal and secure the wires in the

distributor body.

Fit the new black trigger ensuring that the internal shape matches the cam lobes

on the spindle and push home carefully.

Refit the old rotor arm.

Connect the red wire to the positive terminal of the coil and the black to the

negative.

Refit the distributor cap and start the engine.

Check the ignition timing and adjust where necessary.
